Two grown-up orphans, who scrape by as petty criminals, suddenly find themselves faced with a huge challenge: their Catholic orphanage is due to close. To raise the missing funds by honest means, they round up their old band and plan a benefit concert. Dressed in black suits, hats and sunglasses, Jake and Elwood Blues set off on a turbulent journey across the country. On their legendary road trip, they not only round up the old band members, but also get caught up in hair-raising police chases, meet cowboys and encounter old flames. Based on John Landis’ cult film (1980) and featuring unforgettable music by James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and many others, the audience can look forward to a musical brimming with action, humour and rousing show numbers – a show ‘in the name of the Lord’, which already thrilled audiences in Manfred Ohnoutka’s production back in 2024.
