SHORT DESCRIPTION
This walking loop takes you towards Seltz, passing Beinheimer Hafen (Beinheim Marina) and its colony of herons. From there, it is on to the banks of the Rhine, under the Rheinbrücke (Rhine Bridge) and along the river until you reach the Iffezheim Weir. A wide path will then take you along the riverside forest and on to the “Hohwerd” Erholungsgebiet (Leisure Park), which boasts a small animal enclosure and playgrounds. On the return journey, you will get to walk alongside the Stadenrhein River.

TOURDESCRIPTION
The trail sets out in the direction of Seltz, passes by the high-water dyke and comes to the site of the port of Beinheim and its heronry. Skirting the harbour, it comes to the banks of the Rhine and passes beneath the bridge over the Rhine. Follow river bank until you reach Iffezheim dam, before going on to the edge of the Rhineland forest at Beinheim. The broad path carries on along the edge of the forest and goes through a tunnel under the railway before reaching the village and returning to the Hohwerd leisure area with the poultry farmers’ enclosure, the village orchard and the children’s play area. You can get back to the Community Hall by following the Stadenrhein stream along the woodland path.
